What's going on?
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Wow! May is already upon us! I am going to miss these kiddos so much!!! There are a few things that you want to be aware of in this last month of school.
You are all cordially invited to my personal class awards assembly on May 22nd at 2pm. This is a special get-together in our own class where I hand out personalized awards that point to personalities or talents of each child. Every child gets their own specially-named certificate. It is so much fun! You may want to come to take pictures and enjoy our year-end celebration during this time. Afterwards, we will have ice cream sundaes! If you would like to bring an item, please sign up on the google.doc with this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiFdAEwSoDRVdGNRMjF4bVp4eVZaNzVncUJXNmd5eGc&usp=sharing
On the last day of school, please have your child bring their favorite board game from home. The kids and I will have some fun activities as a class to wrap up the end of the year. Parents do not need to come during class on the last day of school.
On May 15 and 16, we will have early release at 1pm. Students will not be testing afterward, since 2nd grade will be done testing by then. Don't forget that May 17th is a Staff day with no students.
This is our last week of Riggs for the school year. In fact, April 30th will be our last Riggs test. We just began our last chapter of Shurley English, and will be wrapping that up in two weeks. Our Last Saxon Math Test will be this week. After that, 2nd grade will be reviewing math skills that we want solidified for 2nd graders before they enter third grade. There may be a review test after our last Saxon Math Test.
This week, our students will begin their final Dibels testing for the year, and SAT 10 testing will take place from May 6-10.
With all of the dates, I just threw at you, please be sure to check out the Class Calendar tab on the website to see a better picture of the month.
We are still in dire need of pencils if anyone would like to donate any.
If I forgot anything, I will e-mail everyone to make sure you know everything that is going on to wrap up our 2nd grade year!
Also, if you would like to donate prize items for our treasure box, Mardel has great treasures. You can even log the amount of money the prizes cost for volunteer hours! Every 10 dollars is an hour of volunteering!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Johnson
